keeping an eye on the world going by my window

I have lately discovered one of the great perks of adult life. Paid vacation.

Nothing takes the sting out of having a cubicle with your name on it like getting paid to stay home and hibernate.

Actually, I'm overstating things somewhat (as per usual). I really like my job. The 8:30am start time I could live without, but my kids are hilarious and my coworkers are fabulous. My korean still sucks, but I'm getting to know the flow of the school itself and how things work within it. Actually, I really love my job and mornings are quite possibly the only thing I have to complain about.

But if you think this means I didn't skip out of school and click my heels in the air on my way out the door Friday afternoon you are quite mistaken.

Vacation, even from a job I like, is still totally awesome now that I am a grownup. I'd like to thank Korea for providing me with so very much of it.

Chapter 12, in which it snows and I am utterly smitten.

ok, so I still detest the cold. But look how fantastic my foster-city looks under a blanket of heavy snow. *^^*

wel, here goes nothing.

My first ever film festival submission went out today. At least, I think it did. My Korean skills are definitely not up to the post office, so I have to assume that the DVDs I painstakingly hand-labeled are indeed on their way to the giant pile of other DVDs into which they will eventually be dumped if all goes as planned. Real zinger of a plan I got here, I know. Nevertheless, wish me luck.

open letter to amanda simpson

Dear Amanda Simpson,

When the right-wing hatorade parade comes after you, you know you must be doing something right. So keep on keeping on. Loonies aside, we're with you. (and no, i don't generally just assume people who disagree with me but in the case of LaBarbera in particular it is, i think, a rather generous assumption on my part. better crazy than purposefully hateful.)
